The Healthy Herd Framework

Our preventive health approach focuses on systematic management to ensure long-term herd viability and welfare. By integrating advanced biosecurity with evidence-based husbandry, we set the global standard for responsible breeding.

This policy outlines the technical requirements for all IILP-managed facilities, emphasizing the synergy between clinical interventions and environmental optimization.

The "All-In/All-Out" (AIAO) Movement Policy

This is the gold standard for disease prevention.

Definition

All pigs of the same age and weight are moved together through the production phases (weaning, nursery, finishing).

The Rule

A room or barn must be completely emptied, power-washed, and disinfected for at least 3–4 days before a new batch enters. This breaks the cycle of infection between older and younger pigs.

Why It Works

Breaks the cycle of disease transmission between age groups, significantly reducing pathogen load and preventing endemic infections.

Nutritional & Hydration Standards

Healthy Pigs Eat the Right Food

Nutrition Standards

  • 01
    Colostrum First

Every piglet must receive mother's colostrum within the first 6 hours of birth for life-time immunity.

  • 02
    Clean Water Access

Pigs consume 2–3 times more water than feed. We maintain a flow rate of at least 1 liter/minute for lactating sows and ensure 24/7 access to fresh, tested water.

  • 03
    Zero-Waste Feeding

We strictly prohibit "swill feeding" (unprocessed table scraps), which is the leading cause of diseases like African Swine Fever.

Hydration Standards

  • 01
    Flow Rate Standards

Nursery: 0.5L/min. Grow-Finishers: 1.0L/min to 1.5L/min to ensure adequate hydration.

  • 02
    Water Quality Testing

Water quality tested quarterly for bacterial contamination and mineral content to prevent disease transmission.

Proactive Health Monitoring

We don't wait for a pig to look sick; we look for the early signs of "unthriftiness."

Daily Observations: Staff is trained to monitor for the "Three A's":
  • Appetite
  • Alertness
  • Appearance (shiny coats, clear eyes)
Vaccination: Deworming

A strict quarantine schedule for local endemic diseases (like Classical Swine Fever or Erysipelas) and internal/external parasites.

Sick Bay Isolation

Any animal showing signs of fatigue or cough is immediately moved to a "Sick Bay" for veterinary treatment to protect the rest of the herd.

Herd Health & Oversight

Daily Clinical Monitoring

Visual and digital health assessments performed every 24 hours to detect early symptoms.

ISO Quarantine Procedures

Mandatory isolation of new genetics for 30 days with blood sampling protocols.

Health Performance Indicators (KPI)

Metric Industry Standard IILP Health Policy
Pre-Weaning Mortality 12% - 15% < 8.0%
Post-Weaning Gain (ADG) 750g - 800g/day 850g/day +
Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) 2.6 - 2.8 2.35 - 2.45
Antibiotic Usage Index Baseline Reduced (Target -40%)

Continuous Improvement

Our policy is a living document. Monthly audits and quarterly veterinary reviews ensure that emerging pathogens and new research data are immediately integrated into our field operations. 100% compliance is mandatory for all accredited IILP partners.
